Summer Training Selections
The first round of selections for 2014 Summer Training Courses have been received. Parents and Cadets should see Mr. Biffin on Monday March 24 at the school, either at opening or closing parade to accept the position and sign the paperwork. If you can’t make this date please contact Mr. Biffin at donbiffin@gmail.com to arrange an alternate time.

Cadet Rocketry
The cadet training parade on Monday was rather an exciting time as level one cadets had a chance to fire off in the class room their own alka seltzer powered rocket. Probably one of the most fun filled and memorable nights in the cadet training program. These rockets will actually reach the ceiling of the class room if the alka seltzer and water are mixed correctly.
An Experience to Remember
Flying Air Canada’s Embraer 190 Flight Simulator
10 cadets and staff had a unique opportunity on Saturday morning to see what it was really like to fly an Air Canada flight simulator at their new training centre in Toronto.
Everyone had a chance to fly the aircraft and try their hand at turns, low passes and landings. Some landings were quite smooth while others would have missed or in a few cases left craters in the runway.
The Squadron would like to thank Capt. Gagnon an Air Canada pilot and a cadet parent who gave our cadets and staff a memorable look into the real world of Canadian aviation.

151 Chadburn Squadron has a rich history of service, both to its community and in the military. Heading the long list of servicemen and women is our illustrious leader, Wing Commander Lloyd Vernon Chadburn.
If you have visited Squadron Headquarters in the last year, you would have noticed on the back wall a picture display of Squadron alumni who have moved on to serve in the military.
If you or someone you know was a Cadet in the Squadron and have joined the military, currently serving or retired, we’d like to add their picture in uniform to our display. We are using 5×7 inch pictures in portrait layout. Our preference is to have them in DEUs (like the graduation pic from many courses) We understand that some will only have non formal pictures and if this is the case, we will proudly display them as well. In addition, please complete the attached information sheet, send it with your photo to:

Thoughts from the Treadmill
Mess Dinner weekend, by the time you read this it will all be over. Months of preparation, last minute scurrying and hopefully a great meal. Some excited cadets with some sewing to do and some who are wondering why they didn’t get promoted.
As I have mentioned in past, we will only promote cadets into positions where there is a vacancy now or soon to be one. We go through a pretty stressful time counting points and scores, looking at attendance and behaviour and trying to look into the future to see how many jobs there will be to fill in a couple of months. The promotion process is done as fairly as possible with lots of checks and balances. For those who feel they should have been promoted and weren’t, please come and talk to either Captain Weigel or myself. We will try to explain any shortcomings or areas to improve on to stand a better chance for promotion in the future. To those who did get promoted, congratulations, as cliché as it sounds, now the hard work begins. You will have more eyes on you for the next little while checking out the new leadership than you have ever had before.
This is always somewhat of a sad time for me as I realize that after mess dinner, the cadet year only has a couple of months left. It is hard to believe that in less than two months we will be looking back at the annual inspection and year end trip. Let’s try to make the last couple of months the best of this year. I would like to challenge every cadet to push themselves to go the extra mile. Whether it is tag day sign ups, glassy boot award, or perfect attendance, step out of your comfort zone and shine. If we all do one thing over and above what we normally do, we will be able to look back on the year with an extra bit of pride.
